What does an Intimacy Coordinator do?

An Intimacy Coordinator is a liaison between the director, actor and production company ensuring that scenes with intimacy rehearse and film effortlessly.

This includes:

 *      Discussion with the director to help create what he/she envisions in each intimate scene, so everyone is on the same creative page. Including: nudity, simulated sex scenes, kink, BDSM, and sexual assault. An IC has a plan B and C ready.

*      Clearly communicating with each actor involved any concerns they may have with nudity or simulated sex scenes.

*      Being an advocate and emotional support for the actor.

*     Making sure SAG-AFTRA nudity guidelines are followed with a closed set.

*     Being an advocate for the LGBTQAI+ cast.

*   Creating a safe environment and choreographing authentic simulated sex scenes so everyone knows exactly what to expect and actors can perform better knowing the boundaries without any surprises. Leaving the set with a positive experience.

*    Working with Costumes and Makeup to help with nudity garments and prosthetics.

*   Helping to negotiate nudity/simulated sex riders.

*    Viewing a monitor during each scene and provide any support to the director or actors as needed.

*    Doing a debriefing after shooting to check in with everyone involved to see if they are ok.

*    Dealing with background actors.
